Liar! Liar!

2 12 2010

We had our 2nd weekly team meeting today and, as we sometimes do, we had an mini ice-breaker/team-building activity. It’s really more of a wake-up-it’s-really-monday thing more than anything else really, but that’s not my point…

This time around, I had two of my team members lead the activity. The funny thing was, they chose the same activity that I was thinking about, an activity that I learned from our bunso in SkySolvers (Navitaire), Rona.

It was simply called “2 Facts and a Lie.” You write down 3 things about yourself, 2 facts and a lie. Here are my entries:

* I had my first girlfriend at the age of 27
* I used to date a girl who is now one of Indonesia’s pop-stars (or is it RnB)
* I danced Filipino Folk Dance in front of the Indonesian First Lady

Can you guess which one is the lie? All of my teammates got it wrong!

Update:
I can’t believe people actually believe #2. Hahaha. She was a close friend but I never dated her. I wanted to but… oh well.
Don’t worry, Alaine knows about her. 🙂

Living!

13 11 2010

When I read Vivacious Virgo’s second blog post about her 101 Goals in 1001 days, I was suddenly reminded of my own list that I came up with a couple of years ago. When I looked over it again, I was quite disappointed because it was nowhere as extensive. In fact, it only had a list of places I wanted to go to… nothing more.

Although I believe that traveling should always be in this list as it helps us increase our horizon, and I am pleased to note that I will get to check off two more of those places, it seemed so shallow to only have travel on my list. So, I promised myself that I will update this list before this month ends with items beyond travelling.

Broken Promises…

16 03 2010

I once told myself that I would

  1. lose weight
  2. finish my masters
  3. be financially independent

Unfortunately, the hustle and bustle of daily life took its toll on me so all these, and more, have been left hanging. Of course, it’s not as if I have not accomplished anything since I last blogged. There have been major changes in my life…

The biggest of course was my wedding last December 28. More of that soon…

For now, I just want to revive my blogging habits… as this is the time when I can take a step back and reflect on things.

The Geek

27 07 2008
I had nothing better to do so I decided to take pictures of my different machines and setups…

1. We did not have a decent office laptop during the first few weeks so I had to use my personal laptop to work with folks from Manila. Mike was also kind enough to allow me to take home one of the LCD monitors during the weekends to help me work better.

2. When I finally got the laptop, a cool HP 6910, I decided to make my personal one a download and chatting machine instead. =) Here’s a snapshot of how I our living room was setup when my roomies went out-of-town for the weekend.

3. I saw an unused docking station in the office so I grabbed it for my own use. It’s just so much more convenient when I can just come in, place it on the dock and I’m all ready to go. I wish I could have this setup at home too. Even more, how I wish I could have one like this in the Manila office.

4. My work haven in Austin. I just love working when it’s all quiet and peaceful. Plus I love the headset on our phone… it is just so convenient to be attending a meeting and being able to have both hands free. Another thing I wish I could have in the Manila office.

Pictures are on my Multiply account.

Lesson From Narnia

6 06 2008

I watched The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian with a couple of officemates today (free movie nights!!!).

It was a big confusing at first since I did not watch the first movie. Luckily, the plot became clearer as the movie went on. Thanks to my seat mate, Ej, for filling me in on some of the details.

*Warning: Minor spoiler*

What stuck to my mind was this conversation?

C: “I do not think I am ready [to become King of Narnia]”
A: “It’s for that reason, I know you are.”

Very simple yet very profound… and the funny thing was that I was just talking about this very idea/philosophy with a good friend of mine.

I hope that I will also have this philosophy and that I do not become influenced by the “instant-gratification” trend common in today’s generation.

58 hours and counting…

31 03 2008

http://blog.koral.com/?cat=11 Yup, that’s how long I have not been feeling well…

It started around 3pm last Friday so I decided to leave work early and head straight home. Since then, I did not leave our place until around 10pm earlier when I went down for a massage.

I don’t know about everyone else but I just don’t like this feeling at all. My body clock is all messed up again because I’ve been sleeping a lot and I cannot seem to concentrate on any task… I even find it hard to finish a PSP game.

Oh man, I just wish I’d feel a little better when I wake up later so I can at least go to work and actually get something done there. Also, I really want to attend the fellowship with my SFC family.
